Job Description:
Hixson United Methodist Church seeks a Full Time Director of Children's Ministry to develop vibrant children's programming and guide our congregation in bringing the love of Jesus to children in our community (and the world!). We're looking for an experienced visionary who loves God, is passionate about children, and can inspire adults.
Qualified candidates will demonstrate: - a commitment to nurturing children toward a growing understanding of what it means to be a child of God and a follower of Jesus Christ
- an ability to develop and implement appropriate age level ministries for children that emphasize opportunities in the areas of prayer, presence, gifts and service
- proficiency at recruiting, training, and overseeing adult volunteer leaders
Key responsibilities for this position include: - Develop and execute a viable, visionary, and productive program for children's ministry (birth through grade 5) based on Christian values, biblical teachings, and the Hixson UMC mission.
- Partner with other church staff to conceptualize and implement seamless discipleship and spiritual formation for children and families.
- Facilitate a ministry of missions, empowering children to use their time and talents to serve the needs of our neighbor, both locally and globally.
- Develop a Team approach to Children's Ministry by recruiting, equipping and training an adequate number of responsible leaders for each area of responsibility.
- Promote the incorporation of children into the life and ministry of the congregation.
- Act as liaison with our Children's Development Center (preschool) staff and work toward greater coordination of the church and school programming and ministries.
- Supervise any additional Children's Ministry and nursery staff, empowering and enabling them to develop their own gifts for ministry within the vision and mission for Hixson UMC.
