Position Title: Kids Ministry Director Exempt Status
Reports to: Lead Pastor Employees Supervised: 2-3
Hours: Minimum 40 Hours/Week
Wage Rate: TBD according to personnel compensation plan

Job Summary:
The ABC Kids director is passionate to equip children and their parents to become more like Jesus. This position specifically leads staff and volunteers in the planning and execution of ABC kids ministry birth - 5th grade, family ministry outreach, and kids/family events. The Kids director role is responsible for the vision and implementation of Biblically centered curriculum and programs. One of ABC's core values is to become intentional with making disciples. This position will work alongside the discipleship pastor to equip leaders and parents in disciplining their kids.

Specific Tasks: 
* Lead staff and volunteers in ABC Kids by providing direction, managing schedules, coaching and training toward the overall vision of ABC.
* Regular teaching for Sunday morning ABC kids in addition to equipping a rotating team of kids ministry teachers for ABC weekend services.
* Invest in parents through classes and programs designed to show that parents are primary. 
* Remain current in children's ministry and small group best practices, ministry trends, and curriculum options.
* Evaluate, edit, and write curriculum that is Biblically sound, gospel centered and educates kids in the overall narrative of scripture as well as key Old and New testament principles.
* Monitor and improve systems for fostering a safe, loving, and hospitable environment for kids at ABC weekend services.
* Supervise childcare staff team, serving a variety of weekly and annual events including moms groups, Bible studies, CR / Recovery ministry, and annual conferences.
* Manage and maintain an annual budget for kids ministry including large scale VBS outreach, fall outreach and summer family events. 
* Participate in all-church events like Easter, Christmas events, and youth conferences as part of the larger ABC staff team. 
* Manage family milestone celebrations like baptisms and baby dedications.

Job Specifications:
Education & Experience Requirements:
* Preferred education level is a Bachelor's degree with post-graduate work; field relevant to church ministry and program development is recommended.
* At least 5 years experience in ministry leadership and supervising others.

Skills & Abilities:
* Ability to delegate, empower, cast vision, shepherd.
* Communication skills in small and large group settings. 
* Excellent use of productivity software, email, file sharing, and online communication software for project management and scheduling.
* Organizational and Leadership abilities demonstrated through past experiences.
* Manage multiple tasks and projects.
* Understanding of the cognitive and behavioral developments of all age groups, children through adults.

Internal/External Relations Requirement:
* A track record of servant leadership, humility and teachable in spirit
* Pursue networking opportunities with other kids and family ministries in our area to work together for the good of the Church.
* Commitment to spread ownership of ABC's vision and core values to each area of ministry and involve appropriately.

* Thinking both globally regarding the whole church and narrowly within specific departments 
* Strategic planning and utilization of resources and volunteers

Managerial/Leadership Responsibilities (if applicable):
* Supervise intentionally the ABC Kids staff
* Leadership of volunteer teams in ABC Kids

Financial Responsibilities (if applicable): 
* Oversee budgets for Kids Ministry.

Physical Factors & Working Conditions / Schedule & Expected Travel:
* Light to medium work; In-office working conditions; agreed upon schedule with supervisor.
* Effectively responding to the needs of the congregation can seldom be done in a conventional "work week".  Ministers will be expected to sacrificially serve the needs of the congregation and others whom we seek to reach for Christ, without being limited by the calendar or the clock.
* Occasional travel both local and global.
