Pastoral Duties:
The successful candidate will be able to articulate a sense of God given calling to a vocation of Christian ministry. They should be able to articulate a theology/philosophy of ministry that shapes their pastoral engagement. They must have gifts that are strategic to the fulfillment of the position description.
1. Preaching/Teaching and Sunday Services – approximately 20 hours/week
This position will require the abilities and gifts to_noemailmunicate God's word effectively, accurately, and relevantly to audiences of all ages, investing sufficient time in study and prayer. The candidate will:
I. Serve as the primary preacher for Sunday morning services, preaching a minimum of 30 times/year.
II. Assign in collaboration with admin staff, preaching to others in the congregation, guest speakers, and international workers.
III. Give overall direction to King of Kings Sunday worship services in collaboration with Service Directors, Worship Leaders, First Impressions, and Children's Ministry. Provide and receive input and evaluation on our current worship services at leadership meetings for improvement and effectiveness.
IV. Be available for special services such as weddings, baptisms, funerals and baby dedications.
2. Disciple and Equip Ministry Teams – approximately 10 hours/week
This position will place the spiritual health and growth of the Ministry Team as a priority and will ensure the staff, and Leadership Team is purposefully and strategically trained and equipped to minister to the larger church and local_noemailmunity. The lead Pastor is responsible for identifying and working collaboratively with the leadership team to raise up men and women for future leadership. The vision for this role is to create a structure and cycle of healthy leaders developing future healthy leaders through modelling, mentorship, and equipping.
I. Provide spiritual leadership to the Board, Elders, and leaders to equip them to govern and lead with diligence, wisdom and love. Provide or refer to teachings, materials, training seminars, conferences and courses for growth and development of the team.
II. Supervise, direct, and support staff and ministry directors through intentional and scheduled meetings, healthy reviews, and mentorship relationships.
III. Ensure a clear strategy is developed to support an effective and growing discipleship ministry and outreach; Ex. Alpha, Life groups, etc.
IV. Actively participate on the Leadership and Elder teams, including facilitating team meetings when necessary and contributing to meeting agendas.
3. Pastoral and Congregational Care - approximately 5 hours/week
The successful candidate will develop strong relationships with the congregants, staff, and church leadership, desiring to help them grow in their relationship with Jesus and others. Responsibilities include:
I. Schedule pastoral care check-in with all staff and ministry directors.
II. Visitation of the sick and hospitalized, offer counselling, discipleship and crisis care as spirit-led, otherwise provide referrals to professionals as needed.
III. Work with the leadership team to connect new and current congregants.
4. Personal Development – approximately 5 hours/week
Dedicate time for study, attending conferences, taking courses, etc. that would further equip the pastor to lead and develop the team and_noemailmunity.
