Chesapeake Church in Huntingtown, Maryland, is seeking a Senior Pastor to lead us in our mission to reach unchurched people and nurture them into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Pastor provides oversight, vision, and direction for accomplishing the Church's mission and vision. This includes oversight of the Body's worship experience, the anointed teaching of the church, the spiritual direction and focus of the ministries, and the leadership and care of the staff.

CHURCH-WIDE LEADERSHIP

1. Casts Church-wide vision, direction, and unity of purpose, consistent with the spiritual oversight and church-wide focus provided by the Elders.
2. Oversees the Biblical teaching of the church, including coherent and consistent worship services. 3. Ensures every worship service is aimed toward glorifying God, reaching unchurched people, and inspiring a multi-generational church to grow in faith and service to others.
4. Provides Biblical teaching and consultation support to Youth and Children's Ministries in the development of age-appropriate teaching.
5. Collaborates with the Community Life Director to ensure classes designed to help people grow in their faith complement and support the church's teaching focus for young families.
6. Along with the Executive Pastor, oversees and leads Pastors and Leaders, helping them achieve ministry objectives, as well as ongoing personal, professional, and spiritual development goals.
7. Ensures healthy systems, policies, procedures, and processes are in place to invite people to discover and deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ; provides people with meaningful ministry connections, learning, and serving opportunities.
8. Along with Executive Pastor, oversees and leads Pastors and Leaders, helping them achieve ministry objectives, as well as ongoing personal, professional, and spiritual development goals.
9. Along with the Executive Pastor, serves as a liaison and primary communicator between the staff and Elders. Ensures fidelity between Elders spiritual oversight/direction and their staff's implementation at the ministry level.
10. Oversees ongoing pastoral development ofstaff and volunteer leaders.
11. Collaborates effective church outreach in coordination with the Elders and outreach partners including End Hunger in Calvert County and Honduras Compassion Partners.
12. Effective outreach means sharing the gospel through humble, loving service that glorifies God.
13. Serves as liaison with outside organizations and develops partnerships designed to fuel the Church's overall strategies and produce Kingdom fruit.
14. Collaborates with the Executive Pastor on the successful integration of ministries, optimizing staff roles and responsibilities, communications, funding and space allocation and use. Also collaborates regarding future organizational structures, staffing and responsibilities as the Church grows and evolves over time.
15. Collaborates with the Pastors and Elders to develop long range plans and creative strategies to carry out the mission and vision of the Church and its outreach affiliates. Works with staff, as well as other boards and partners, to accomplish these strategies.
16. Along with the Executive Pastor, keeps the Board of Elders apprised of the status of major ministry initiatives and key staff activities.

Job Qualifications:

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1. Bachelor's degree from an approved theological seminary or equivalent experience serving as a Pastor.
2. A minimum of 10 years' experience as a pastor, inclusive of at least 5 years' experience preaching to a diverse population (multi-generational, multi-cultural, etc.).
3. Experience supervising a church staff of 10 or more direct reports.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

1. Masters degree from an approved theological seminary or equivalent experience serving as a Pastor.
