Resident Overview
The Youth Ministry Resident will work closely with either the Middle School Pastor (MS Pastor) or High School Pastor (HS Pastor) to learn and seek God’s direction for ministering to students in Palo Alto and the surrounding areas. The Resident will be assigned to either Middle School or High School and report directly to the Pastor of that ministry while assisting in planning and leading youth group activities.
As part of the Resident Program, this position will include rotations in different areas of ministry in the church for the purposes of training, for a few hours each week (within the 40 hours per week).
The Ministry Resident position also requires participation in our Leadership Institute which includes a few hours of bible, theology, and spiritual formation classes a week (within the 40 hours per week).
This position is intended to be a one-year term of employment (with an option to extend to two years). This position has the possibility of including housing. There is also flexibility to adjust this role to a part-time position if needed.
Responsibilities
Provide regular, focused communication to students, parents, and leaders consistent with other communication practices at PBC.
Help plan, coordinate, and manage registrations for events and trips, including:
Monthly Special events
Winter & Summer Camp (Hume Lake)
Special Events
Attend weekly youth ministry team meetings
Attend and assist with volunteer leadership training and “check-ins”
Help lead, coordinate, and conduct digital and in-person youth ministry meetings including:
Schedule teachers & worship leaders as necessary
Lead/co-lead a small group Bible study for students
As requested, host, lead games, and teach at youth ministry meetings and understand all aspects of the schedule/agenda
Purchase (to be reimbursed) and pick up necessary resources for programming and/or events
Mentor and teach biblical truths to students in both formal and informal settings
Build intentional relationships with students at their homes, school events, and other informal situations
Occasional lifting of 20 pounds required for events and set up
Rate of Pay & Hours
Hours: Full-Time (40 Hours/Week); there is also flexibility to adjust this role to a part-time position if needed.
Compensation: $3,200 stipend/month plus benefits. A potential option for housing consistent with all applicable laws.
Hire Date: September 2024
Term
This position is for a one-year term of at-will employment with PBC (with an option to extend to two years).
At-Will Employment
This position constitutes at-will employment, meaning that either PBC or the employee may separate the employment consistent with all applicable laws.
